July 26, 2018 - Rock Creek stripers

E-mail Print PDF

I wanted to let you know about our trips the weekend before the 4th and the weekend after.

We had very productive trips both weekends. The first trip we were camped in Friendship and caught SMB consistently with a variety of techniques (top water being the most fun) we saw consistent slurps at all times of day but were not lucky enough to catch any slurping stripers but did find willing stripers in Rock Creek. We located by trolling and then settled in over the school with bait. It multiple hook ups/as many as we wanted to catch(clean). Most were 1 1/2-3 pounds with one 6 pounder joining the fun. Fish were 30-45' of water. As a special bonus my 3 year old caught his first unassisted fish- a nice bluegill - and continued to be excited about catching the little rascals all weekend.

We had so much fun we came back the next weekend for a quick 2 day /1 night trip and had similar results in Rock Creek plus the bonus of some nice walleyes we caught in last chance.

Thanks again for all the info you provide and the work you do.
