South End ReportSo we hit the South end this last weekend and had a pretty good trip. Got a late start on Friday so we motored over near Lone Rock, surprisingly we trolled up four really nice stripers on diving cranks before turning the corner into the cove where Lone Rock sits. I was pretty surprised they were out there in the open bay sitting on that shelf on the east side in about 40 feet of water. That was pretty short-lived however because they bailed and we didn’t find them again.
The following morning, we shot up Navajo Canyon and towards that back picked up another 18 stripers, all very fat and healthy, averaging 3-5 lbs. My Mother caught the jumbo of the trip, 30” and 8 lbs. (digital scale broken, had to use the scaled Boga Grip). We caught all of them on diving cranks and once started, jigging them up on Wally lures. The last day we headed over to warm creek. No anchovies or anything so we tried trolling around. We picked up a couple more, but most of the fish were sitting near the bottom at about 100’ in the back of warm creek north of the floating restroom. It was a bit chilly, so we called it a day and were off the lake by 10am.
All in all it was a great trip, the lake was relatively calm. However, I have to tell you the fish cleaning station being out of service really jams me up!
Have a great week!Jason Knight
