CONTEST RULES:
1. Overview: There will be two contests held this year, the first will be
CRC Wet contest, and the second will be the HLL contest. All Wordlings are
invited to submit one guess for both contests. Rich Herron will assist Wayne
as the Contest Moderator. Prizes for both are still TBD. The CRC Wet "day"
may even be celebrated by ARAMARK hosting Arizona's Governor cutting a
ribbon near Castle Rock. More details will be forthcoming of this event in
May.
2. CRC Wet Contest/Threshold: The first person to guess the closest
date/time to CRC Wet will be the winner. Anecdotal evidence dictates that a
lake level of 3612' will result in a flood of the CRC flat and connect the
Wahweap and Warm Creek Bays. Therefore, that exact level will be used for
the CRC Wet contest. The person guessing closest to the DAY and HOUR that
3612' is achieved will win the CRC Wet contest. In the event that 3612' is
not reached, the maximum lake elevation in 2007 will be the winning level
for both the CRC Wet and HLL contests-and prizes if any.
3. HLL Contest/Threshold: The first person to guess closes date/time to the
HLL will be the winner. The method for determining the date and time of the
HIGHEST lake level for 2007 (or peak level) will be via the public
information supplied hourly by the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) in Page, AZ.
In the event that Mother Nature blesses us with a second surge of run-off
like Oct/2006, then only the first runoff period will be HLL threshold. In
the event there are staggered runoff surges then the first runoff peak level
must be sustained for over 5 days for it to be declared officially the HLL
which will determine the 2007 HLL winner.
4. Contest Entries/Tie Breaker: There could be a tie if no one guesses the
exact time and two people are equally close (See the example tie-breaking
below). In that case, the winner will be determined by the earlier date of
the guess. All guesses are assumed to be for 2007 if not otherwise
indicated. Those submitting duplicate dates and times will be informed and
advised to submit another guess. All entries can be changed up to the
cut-off date. Please submit your guesses for both contests in the following
format:
CRC: Month - Day - Hour (am/pm or 24-hour time)
HLL: Month - Day - Hour (am/pm or 24-hour time)
Example contest entry format, please post in body of a WW Lake Powell
Recreational Board post your guesses for both contents:
CRC: June - 23 - 3 pm
HLL: July - 30 - 1500
Do not post minutes or seconds as the data is not tracked with that level of
accuracy by the BOR, and those entries will be ROUNDED up to the next hour.
If that hour has been taken then your guess will be voided and you will be
asked to re-guess via a reply to your posted guess.
Tie-Breaking Examples (Note examples work for CRC too):
1. HLL 3620' is achieved on June 23 @ 3:00 pm. The person guessing that
exact date and time will win.
2. HLL 3620' is achieved on June 23 @ 3:00 pm. The person guessing closest
will win.
3. HLL 3620' is achieved on June 23 @ 3:00 pm. One person guesses June 23 @
noon, another guesses 6:00 pm, the earliest submission wins.
4. HLL 3620' is achieved on June 23 @ 3:00 pm. One person guesses June 23 @
noon, another guesses 7:00 pm. Noon guess wins.
5. Cut-off for entries: The last day to post your guesses for both contests
will be Friday June 1, 2007. Cut-off time will be 12 midnight WWBB time on
that date. Please post your guess on and only on the WW Lake Powell
Recreation Forum in the most recent thread labeled CRC/HLL Contests.
6. No Email Entries: Do not email your guesses to Wayne or Rich since they
need to be posted for future (public) reference in case of error or
questions regarding your guesses. When the thread gets too far down the
list, I will bring it back to the top so everyone reading will be able to
enter until the cut-off date.
7. One Entry per Contest: Only one entry per person per both (CRC Wet and
HLL) contests, please! Every week the CRC Wet and HLL contests page off the
WW home page will be updated with contestants and their two guesses.
8. Murphy's Law: Please make a note of your guess in case it either gets
missed by the Contest Moderator or if there is error. In the event that you
notice your guess has been missed or posted in error, send Rich an email
(rmherron2003@yahoo.com) and he will see that it is corrected or tell you
why it is an invalid guess. |
