We were about an hour from the Willow Creek junction, and fewer than four hours from sunset. As it turned out we did get back before sunset, but it was better not to take chances.

By the way, a correction: I wrote earlier that we planned to turn around in an hour but actually went 1.5 hours. I must have misremembered, maybe it was turn around in 40 minutes but actually we went upstream for a one hour... At least according to the photo timestamps. So in summary, at lake level 3636', figure on 20 minutes bushwhacking by kayak, an hour to the Forty Mile junction, and another hour to this point, without rushing.
